Mind The Gap

Have you ever made a New Year’s resolution? You vowed you would start going to the gym, you may have even bought the membership.

Did you go? What happened? What stopped you from taking the step to making ‘what you wanted to do’ a habit?

Trust me, I've been there. Gym memberships, meal plans, study schedules, relationships and any other areas of life I would love to master.

Like you, I did not always do it right away. There was a gap between my knowledge, what I was doing and what needed to be done.

The real key to success is speed of implementation.

Fear of failure does not hold you back, fear of success does. A lot of people fear the action steps and work required to be successful. To be successful we actually need to fail faster, this will bring about the constant change required to find the formula that works for you.

Success in any area of life is determined by the speed you fill the gap between knowledge and implementation.

How does this happen?

We go through life doing the best with what we know. The process of growth occurs as we learn new information and incorporate that information into our lives.

We are bombarded by new information each and every day. Our guide to incorporating this new information is filtering it through our values, our life philosophy. You can use your active mind to choose whether to investigate a claim made by a friend, family member or company further, or whether to put it out of mind.

(Caveat: First you have to know your values —> insert Think By Design here)

How many of you have completed the Life By Design Challenge only to fall off the wagon after the 30 days were up? How many of you didn’t make it for 30 days?

Failure in this sense is an opportunity to learn. Again, it is up to you to analyze the situation and find out what went wrong.

Did you fail to fully grasp the importance of the concepts shared? Perhaps, I did not see the big picture at first either.

Did the concepts challenge your beliefs? They challenged mine the first time I heard them!

Was the reason WHY you were making the change unclear?

This questioning and investigating is a constant process we all continually go through. When you begin to see the changes within yourself, within your family or your community, you will see the importance and your WHY will become greater.

If it were easy, everyone would do it.

Its not easy at first, changing a habit never is. When you make a change, implement the steps and refine what works best in your life, it gets easier. It is up to you to keep challenging yourself to be better and keep growing.

This change can be any of the Life By Design steps: Power, Think, Move or Eat.

So what’s your gap?

How long are you going to wait to implement the Life By Design steps into your life? 1 week, 1 month, 1 year?

Whatever your path, please remember we are all on the same journey. Be better today than you were yesterday and make a commitment to take small steps now. Small steps turn into amazingly healthy habits and extraordinary results later.

You do not owe it to anyone but yourself. Be your best for you.

So, what steps are you working on implementing? It would be great to hear from you and find out where you need help improving.
