Are you tired of the same old same old?
You start going to they gym hardcore in the hopes of shedding some pounds and you end right where you started?
Or worse, you end up gaining even more weight, are overtired, and/or injured? You end up hating the gym, you look at it like punishment, something you HAVE to do?
I get it, because that was me for a very long time. Embarrassed actually for how much of my life I acted that way.
I wanted to share something cool with you that I’ve adopted over the last year that has been hands down the BEST thing I have done for myself! It’s a simple strategy that can bring you HUGE success…
It’s really so simple, that you will be shocked…
Here is what you can do to stop yourself from yo-yo’ing at the gym to consistently making it there 5 days a week and loving every minute of the process along the way.
1. Stop focusing on your goals.
Say what??!! I know that sounds crazy right! But I did.
Stop focusing on your goals. There I said it again just to make sure you got it.
Don’t get me wrong please I’m not saying that goals are unimportant...
But depending on where you are at… not focusing on creating a habit or a process could be your BIGGEST mistake.
How You Can Become Process(Habit)-Oriented:
“Eliminate the clutter and all the things that are going on outside and focus on the things that you can control and take care of your business. That’s something that’s ongoing, and it can never change” –Nick Saban
If you are seriously committed to losing weight it isn’t enough to occasionally attempt to go to the gym or eat healthy. You must make those behaviours daily habits and a part of your identity.
When you commit to a process/habit over an outcome, you redirect your focus from what is within your control or motivation or discipline to actions that drive you towards the outcome you are moving towards.
2. Fall in love with what you are doing…
If you can start focusing on falling in love with the food you CAN eat, or every time you CAN make it to the gym… you will love what starts to happen to you…
Much less stress about missing a workout, much less guilt about the fact that it’s March and you haven’t lost that 10 pounds yet… and much less pressure about trying to be perfect.
You, like me are a mistake maker…
